The Global Careers Series is an initiative driven by five international colleges from within the University of London. United by a desire to support more of our students realize their dream of an international career, this series is another step towards your goal.

Event Description

This event is intended for students and recent graduates who wish to pursue a career in South East Asia. The event hopes to provide globally-minded students with a chance to:

  • Network and connect with like-minded individuals and industry professionals (drinks and canapes will be provided)
  • Appreciate why experience in South East Asia is such an incredible advantage for graduates in today's job market
  • Understand the challenges to working successfully in the region, and how these can be overcome

During the event you will have a chance to hear from our distinguished speakers, then you will be provided with an opportunity to ask questions and engage with our panelists. 

Finally we will encourage you all to better understand and appreciate South East Asian culture by providing you with an interactive introduction to business culture in the region.

Panel & Speakers

  • Ron Aston - who headed Premier Oil’s operations in Indonesia and subsequently ran a company in Malaysia
  • Martin Hatfull - who was a senior diplomatic to Indonesia and then worked an as International Public Affairs Director for Diageo PLC. He is currently Vice-Chair of the UK-ASEAN Business Council and a member of the Board of the UK-India Business Council. He also advises the UK-Japan 21st Century Group. 
  • Jessica Sallabank  - who was a journalist for Al Jazeera in Malaysia and currently works for the International Committee of the Red Cross
  • Ben Murtagh - Head of the South East Asia department at SOAS
  • Angela Simpson - Quality Assurance and Training Advisor to Aerowisata Hotels
