The Global Careers Series is an initiative driven by five international colleges from within the University of London. United by a desire to support more of our students realize their dream of an international career, this series is another step towards your goal.

Event Description

This event is intended for students and recent graduates who wish to pursue a career in North America. The event hopes to provide globally-minded students with a chance to:

  • Network and connect with like-minded individuals and industry professionals (drinks and canapes will be provided)
  • Appreciate why experience in North America is such an incredible advantage for graduates in today's job market
  • Understand the challenges to working successfully in the region, and how these can be overcome

During the event you will have a chance to hear from our distinguished speakers, then you will be provided with an opportunity to ask questions and engage with our panelists.

Ben Robinson – Ben completed a Graduate Entry LLB degree and Legal Practice Course here at City.   He is currently Community Volunteering Officer at City and a City Law School Visiting Lecturer in Contract and Constitutional & Administrative Law as well as coordinating free legal clinics for local residents and students.  Ben has worked in large and small organisations and operated small businesses spanning renewable energy sales / engineering, local agriculture, digital publishing and legal support here in London as well as in Ontario, Canada. 


Emily Merson - Emily is the Co-Founder and CEO of Institutional Partnerships for Global Experiences headquartered in Annapolis, MD, USA. Celebrating their 15th anniversary, Global Experiences understands the benefit of gaining experiences in The United States, offering dynamic and innovative internships in New York City and Washington D.C.


Andrew Dorsey - Andrew is proud to work in IBM's Cognitive Solutions and Research Division, headquartered in New York City's Silicon Alley. Andrew’s diverse academic and professional background allows him to understand issues holistically and create innovative solutions to business challenges. Andrew is a graduate of IBM's Human Resources Leadership Development Program and has now relocated to IBM’s London office. 


Allison Nichols - Allison is the Program Manager for Career Training USA at InterExchange, an NYC-based nonprofit cultural exchange organization and U.S. Department of State designated J-1 Visa sponsor. At InterExchange, Allison has the privilege of working with students, graduates and professionals from around the world who are pursuing life-changing internships and professional training programs in the United States. She develops and manages Career Training USA's overseas partner relationships with universities and work-abroad agencies.
